Introduction of Manitoba Great Wall Chinese Choir The Manitoba Chinese Choir was founded in the autumn of 2019. Our vision is to create a platform to bring friends with a passion in singing together. At the same time, we are looking forward to enrich local cultural lives and promote understanding of the Chinese culture. We have attracted a group who has a certain vocal music foundation. Establishment of the choir is supported by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of China. With the connections of Manitoba Great Wall Performing Arts, the choir may also expect a long-term cooperative relationship with the choir department of Sichuan Conservatory of Music. In a short period of more than a year, the choir rehearsed a number of Chinese and Western songs, such as "Sleepless Tonight", "Angel Figure", "Hawthorn Tree", "Red River Valley" and "Long Live our Motherland" and many more. Among these, "Sleepless Tonight " was performed and viewed online in the 2021 Spring Festival Gala, the New Zealand Chinese New Year Concert, and the 2021 all-Canadian Chinese New Year Concert, which were all highly praised by audiences from all over the world. At present, the choir conducts itself with much flexibility, online and offline depending on the health guidelines. Nonetheless, we have effectively adhered to the routine rehearsal, and have kept our standard of practice. The choir will continue to actively participate in various platforms, and shall remain a friendly community art group with high artistic qualities.
