The Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada awards scholarships to students who are persistent in learning Chinese dance at the Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada and have a long track record in volunteering. The scholarships are awarded to those admitted to university after graduating from high school, to support his/her university studies.
This year's scholarship of $500 will be awarded to Grace Lu in recognition of her persistence in learning dance at the Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada for more than 3 consecutive years and volunteering at the dance school on weekends. Grace Lu is also the third scholarship recipient of the Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada. Due to the pandemic, this year's school year end performance and award ceremony have been cancelled.
We hope Grace Lu will continue to show her passion in supporting and promoting Chinese culture. We also hope that more children of Chinese background will spend time to learn Chinese culture and Chinese dance and acquire a passion to promote our culture in the Canadian multicultural mosaic!
I am honoured to receive the Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada Scholarship. Recalling the last 16 years at Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada, I started dancing at the Great Wall when I was merely 3 years old. During this period of time, teachers were encouraging and motivated everyone with their compassion, determination, and love for dance. Throughout these years, dancing at the Great Wall helped me understand the importance and richness of Chinese culture, which I have integrated into my daily life. To give back to the community, I will continue progressing in the art of Chinese dance to promote Chinese culture within Manitoba and use the award to further my studies. Thank you once again for awarding me with this scholarship and allowing me to experience Chinese culture to the fullest form. I would specifically like to thank Gary Liu for being one of the main driving forces that has driven me to continue dancing when times get tough. I will continue to cherish every single opportunity Great Wall Dance Academy of Canada gives me with the utmost sincerity and gratitude.
